Chapter 25 of 1st Samuel provides us with a story that finds David out of character with how we have seen him up to this point. His run-in and response to this foolish man named Nabal almost serve to derail his journey as God’s Anointed and future king of Israel. It shows us God’s providence in his using an unlikely source to avert the disaster that David was about to bring on himself.
